Oxchain: Blockchain and the global south

Conference 22nd May
Coin Street Conference Centre, Waterloo, London

Our friends at the Oxchain project are hosting a workshop in London, 22nd May 2018. Here's a link to the draft agenda.

Ox-Chain is a major research project between the Universities of Edinburgh, Northumbria and Lancaster, and research partners Oxfam, Zero Waste Scotland, Volunteer Scotland and WHALE Arts, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. It brings together experts in digital design, cryptography, business and international development. Through collaborative research, Oxchain proposes to design a Blockchain for Oxfam to better support the circulation and re-circulation of valuable items within its business model – hence ‘Ox-Chain’. More broadly, drawing on the expertise and practices of research partners, Oxchain will explore the reconfiguration of economic, social and cultural life which may be made possible by digital, peer-to-peer value exchange.
